CHEMICALS PROJECTS PLATFORM

Save the Date: Chemicals Projects Platform (financed by the EU LIFE Programme)

2 - 3 December 2026 | Riga, Latvia, Hotel Radisson Blue Daugava

How can chemicals be better integrated into circular economy, climate action, waste management and product policy? Join around 100 experts, project representatives, policymakers and practitioners from across Europe at the Chemicals Projects Platform Event in Riga.

The event will bring together LIFE, Horizon and Interreg projects to explore chemicals as a cross-cutting environmental challenge and identify practical pathways towards a toxic-free and circular economy.

The meeting will focus on four key themes:

  • Chemicals as a cross-cutting policy issue, connected to circular economy, climate action, waste, water, procurement and product policy.
  • Upstream–downstream value chain thinking, mapping projects from chemical production and product design to consumer use, waste management and releases to the environment.
  • Better use of existing policy instruments, including public procurement, environmental management systems, product requirements and ecolabelling.
  • Preventing hazardous substances at source to reduce emissions to the environment and minimise human exposure.
  • Through project pitches, interactive workshops and an exhibition of project results, participants will exchange experiences, build new connections and identify opportunities for cooperation across sectors and funding programmes.

The meetings is organised by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), the Directorate General for Environment of the European Commission (DG ENV) and the LIFE project host – “Chemicals Risk Management and Assessment of Alternatives: Tools and best practices to support circularity, create more sustainable products and avoid regrettable substitution (”LIFE FitforREACH-2).
