Company visits
Optional company visits - 3 December, 15:00-17:00
The conference will conclude with optional visits to two Latvian companies, offering participants an opportunity to see practical hazardous-substance reduction and chemicals risk management in real production environments. The number of participants in the site visits is limited.
KVIST - furniture manufacturing
KVIST is a LIFE FitforREACH-2 partner company and a major furniture manufacturer specialising in high-quality chairs, with approximately 600 employees.
During the visit, participants will learn about the company's efforts to reduce hazardous chemicals and improve working conditions. KVIST has replaced solvent-based paints in chair production, contributing to improved air quality at the production site. The company is also working to identify and introduce adhesives with lower formaldehyde content and continues to improve its chemicals risk management practices.
KNK Mefab - metal processing
KNK Mefab provides a range of metalworking services, including powder coating, sandblasting, welding and metal-part production.
The company began reducing the use of hazardous substances in several metal-processing processes during the first LIFE FitforREACH project and continues this work under LIFE FitforREACH-2. Its focus is on continuous improvement, more sustainable production practices and the integration of environmental protection and occupational health and safety into everyday operations.
The company's management systems are certified according to ISO 14001 environmental management and ISO 45001 occupational health and safety standards.
