Enforcement of and support action on REACH at EU Member States

int.seminar.jpgAn international seminar "Enforcement practices with regard to the REACH Regulation" took place on 1st and 2nd of February 2017 in Tallinn, Estonia. Approximately 60 representatives from 10 European Union Member States and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) were exchanging experience and discussing several issues in relation to the enforcement of specific provisions of the EU chemicals regulation REACH.

The seminar participants represented national enforcement authorities, help-desks, competent authorities and ministries of Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland and Sweden. In addition, industry and NGO representatives, consultants and ECHA staff took part in the seminar.

The summary of the event provides synthesis of what was discussed during the two day event. Including topics such as the enforcement challenges and on the intended information flow under REACH. Also, reflection of the enforcement practices, as identified from the seminar discussions organised according to the areas ‘registration’, ‘communication’ and ‘restrictions’. The report summarises the overall state of play as observed at the seminar and draws conclusions with regard to open issues and further work.
