New handbook helps article producers manage chemical risks
The "Chemicals Risk Management Handbook for Article Producers" has now been completed and is ready for use by small and medium-sized enterprises across the article-manufacturing sector.
The handbook offers practical, step-by-step guidance for companies looking to set up a new - or strengthen an existing - Chemicals Risk Management System (CRMS).
Designed as a modular toolbox rather than a one-size-fits-all manual, the handbook allows companies to pick and implement the elements most relevant to their own operations, whether they are building a full system from scratch or improving specific parts of an existing one. It covers the full scope of chemicals risk management, from legislation and compliance, chemicals inventories, and company policy, to purchasing, storage safety, occupational health, environmental emissions, product safety, and communication with suppliers, customers, and authorities.
Each chapter combines the relevant legal background with practical advantages, implementation steps, and links to further tools, making the guidance equally useful for companies just starting out and those refining mature systems.
The handbook was developed in the framework of the LIFE Fit for REACH-2 project, co-financed by the LIFE Programme of the European Union.
